In addition to our rescue and adoption programs, Collie Rescue of Mississippi gives Collies a second chance at life and love through our sanctuary program.  This program gives rescue collies who are unable to be adopted due to their special needs a loving home to live out their final years  These needs can either be either old age or a physical limitation.  While their time with us is generally short, they still display the loyalty and spirit that we all know and love in the Collie.  If you would like to contribute to the sanctuary program either contact us or you can contribute online.

Text Box: Sanctuary Collies

Kelly— She entered the Sanctuary Program in the summer of 2001. She is a twelve pound Sheltie who was found running along a busy highway.  In addition to being ten years old,  she is heartworm positive and has a heart condition which is readily treated with daily medication.  Due to her age and heart condition, she could not go through the conventional treatment.  She has been on a monthly heartworm preventative which in a year will kill all of the worms.

Lady—This nine to ten year old female came to the Program in the spring of 2001 from a high kill shelter.  In addition to being very arthritic, she was heartworm positive and can not be treated due to her advanced age..  Like Kelly, she has been placed on a monthly heartworm preventative for treatment. Lady lived with us until the summer of 2002.  For a tribute to her, follow this link.
