Text Box: Laddie has been with us a little over a year. I can hardly put into words what this dog means to us. April 6, 2000, I was at the vet with my Macaw Parrot for her annual check-up. My husband Noah and I had talked about getting a dog again and I asked the secretary if she knew of a dog in need of rescue. She gave me a name and number. I called that afternoon and gave some information to a lady who put my information out on the internet. Barbara Leggette of Collie Rescue Mississippi called the next day. We set up a time to meet. She asked me some pertinent questions that would help her to select the right dog for us.

We arrived and couldn't believe our eyes. This amazing couple, Jim and Barbara, have opened their home to over 20 collies. They were all eager to greet us. In fact, it was hard to move in this sea of collies. Barbara felt Laddie, a rescue she picked up from a Shelter in a small town outside Hattiesburg, Mississippi, would be the best dog for us. I didn't question her judgment. Noah is recovering from a stroke that has impaired his left side. We needed a calm easy going dog not only for Noah but also to adjust to my Macaw who has been with us for 20 years. She rules the roost.

Laddie has more than filled his end of the bargain. He is great therapy for Noah and myself - both physically and mentally. Noah walks him quite a few times a day - much to Laddies delight; brushes him daily; and best of all he is truly our best friend. Our home would be empty without him.

When we were considering getting a dog again it really didn't matter what kind. We feel so blessed that Barbara contacted us and after careful review of our application and answers to questions, sent Laddie home with us to be a part of our family.
