Text Box: The Lucky Boy

Lucky came to Collie Rescue of Mississippi about two years ago when his time ran out at the shelter. He got the name “Lucky” from a very young girl traveling with her Mother who transported him to us, figuring he was very lucky to have a second chance at life and love.

Lucky was a fine middle aged gentleman, the typical collie not bitter about his past mistreatment just looking for a place to call his own with a family for him to love and to be loved. Due to his older age and his battle scars from his past life, we were not sure if anyone was willing to take this fine fellow.

After spending a fair amount of time with us, the right family came along for him. This kind couple, a retired man and his work at home wife upon hearing of Lucky fell in love with him and took him into there home. No doubt, Lucky was treated better than he was his entire life. In fact, he even got is own sofa to sleep on and all the treats he could want. Unfortunately, Lucky’s second chance at life and love was cut short suddenly by natural causes.

Lucky, we love you and miss you!!! We wish you happiness at Rainbow Bridge with all of the other rescue collies. Rest assured that your Mom and Dad also miss you very much and are glad they could give you the type of life you deserved for slightly over a year.

We also salute Lucky’s adopters for willing to take in an older collie and give him the love and care he needed. We truly understand his family’s pain and the loss they are feeling right now. Lucky was the first adopted Collie to pass on to Rainbow Bridge.

We choose “Lucky Man” by Emerson, Lake and Palmer for this story due to the unconditional love Judy and Madison provided to their new companion.  They treated him like a true king for the very short time they had him.
