Text Box: Hi guys, it’s me Will with another update! Mom drove me to Mississippi State early Monday Morning on January 12th and she was finally able to meet Dr. Shores, my surgeon! He explained what he wanted to do and made sure that Mom understood the procedure. Any way, the next afternoon I went through my first surgery and it took 1 ½ hours. Dr. Shores was able to insert my tissue extender and he was very pleased at how well I did with the surgery. While they were doing the surgery, Dr. Shores was also able to remove 3 ½ of those nasty bullet fragments in me but, one they had to leave behind because Dr. Walsh said it was to close to my heart or imbedded in the tissue of my heart and they did not want to take any chances.

Dr. Walsh (now that I’m in the Surgery Unit I have new doctors calling Mom) she said that if I am strong enough Dr. Shores wants to do another surgery on Friday to sew up the hole in my pallet, boy! maybe I can start eating that hard stuff that all of Mom’s other Collies eat and like so much! I was placed in ICU last night after my surgery and everyone there remembered me and was so happy to see me! I think I’m getting a little extra attention from all the people I met before because they seem so happy to see me!

I miss Todd Askew though because he has finished his internship and has moved on. He was so nice to me, giving me pats on the head and telling me that Mom says goodnight and loves me very much. He would always sneak me extra dog food because I was so thin and always made sure no one was around so that he would not get into trouble. Dr. Walsh said that if he knew I was back he would definitely check in on me because she said he really fell in love with me as I am such a cool Collie! Dr. Lathan is now off the case because of the Surgery Unit but, Dr. Walsh told Mom that once she finds out I’m back she will definitely poke her head in to say hi.

After the hole in my pallet is sewed up Dr. Shores will start the reconstructive surgery of my nose. I will probably be here for a few weeks as Dr. Shores said after my first surgery I may need two to three more and of course a recuperation period between the major surgeries. Gosh, I’m really going to miss Mom but, I know that Dr. Walsh calls her every morning and night with my progress. Mom even packed my favorite afghan that I would not even let her take away to wash and she also packed up soft dog treats for me!

Well guys, that’s it for now! Just keep the prayers coming for me as I go through all these surgeries and say a pray for Mom as I know she is very worried and concerned about me!

Collie kisses to all my friends,

Will
