Text Box: Hi guys, it’s me Will! I know a lot of you have been sitting on pins and needles wondering how I’m doing so here it is! Mom picked me up on March 17th and when she packed me into the car safely and set my afghan beside me she exclaimed “Will, this is St. Patty’s Day”! My ears stood straight up and I cocked my head in wonder. Mom explained that this is a special day that we all celebrate because long, long ago St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland. We have a special tradition for this day as we all dress in green and drink green beer! I looked at her funny and snorted and she said “don’t worry Will, you won’t have to drink green water”! I snorted again in relief thinking “Thank Goodness”, I’ve already been through enough!!!!!

Boy, it is so nice to be home again, I can’t believe it’s been a month already! Anyway, getting on with what’s going on with me. Mom took me into see Dr. Rick on April 1st, two weeks after she picked me up from Mississippi State as instructed for my check up to see how my surgical area was healing and how I was progressing. It was sooooo good to see Dr. Rick again and he enjoyed seeing me again. Unfortunately I had developed another infection in my surgical area so I had to be sedated so that Dr. Rick could flush out the infection with an antibiotic solution and clean me up. He also took a culture and sent it to Mississippi State so that they could determine what kind of infection I had developed this time. A week later I was allowed to go back onto hard food, YEAHHHHHH, I hated eating that mush, but I enjoyed how mom made meatballs out of it for me.

Just the other day, after being on hard food I had a slight accident which gave Mom a real scare! I was eating just fine and then all of a sudden a food particle went through my nostril and into the slight hole that is still in my pallet. She was so scared she took the food away from me and ran out of the room. I guess she was calling Dr. Rick. Anyway, Dr. Rick said “no more hard food for now”. Darn, I was so happy eating that hard stuff again like a regular dog, but Mom is making my meatballs again so I can live with that.

Mom called Dr. Rick today and asked for the results of my culture and he said I developed a staff infection. She also asked if I still needed to wear my e-collar as my surgical area looked so much better and he said she could remove it, OHHHHHH BOYYYY!!!!! That thing was such a pain in the butt, I couldn’t even enjoy my afghan wearing that thing! He also said that she did not have to wear plastic gloves anymore while feeding me and touching me, although, she has to continue to wash her hands and then use a sanitizer thing as extra protection for her other dogs that look like me.

Mom apologizes for the delay in my update, but Dad went out of town again for a week for a sailing regatta thing and you all know that only Dad can do the updates. Plus he told Mom that his Sister is coming to visit for the first time in eleven years. With that Mom went nuts on a cleaning frenzy for the past three weeks getting on her hands and knees cleaning down every wall, base board, door, carpet, nook and cranny along with the normal cleaning but more extensive on top of taking care of the other thirty one Collies, one of which came in on Saturday into her Sanctuary Program, and special care to me. I see her every night and she looks so tired!!! So I’m very sorry for the late update!

BTW, new pics of me will be up soon! Because I was wearing that goofy collar, Mom could not get a good picture of me. I’m going to warn you though, due to my having to have all those surgeries they had to shave my head to prevent any infection. Gee isn’t that a joke after all the infections I have already endured! Anyway, I look kind of funny so please don’t laugh at me!

One other thing I forgot to mention, Dad has also nicked named me the “Ten Thousand Dollar Collie.” Unfortunately I did not get a bionic nose out of this, or a replacement of my little black nose. Oh well, I’m still very special to a lot of people like Mom and Dad and all those who helped me with toys, treats, prayers and donations.

As always, Hugs and kisses

Will
