Text Box: Hi guys, it’s me Will with finally an update! Sorry that it has been so long but Mom had a real poopie month in June (sorry about the pun). On June 2nd, she had to put a Collie to sleep as he came to her in very bad shape and Dr. Rick said that there were too many things wrong with him especially at his older age to do anything. Then on June 4th, Mom got into a bad car accident where she really banged up her car bad along with herself. A week later she had to be admitted to the hospital for three days due to the accident and after she was discharged, a couple of days later she lost Anna, one of her sanctuary Collies, to DIC at 3:30 Wednesday morning exactly two weeks to the day that she had to put the other Collie down. Anna passed away at Rick’s with him by her side thankfully so she did not have to die alone.

Getting on with my update, on May 20th, Mom drove me to Mississippi State again to have another surgery on May 21st to close up that blasted hole in my pallet. When I arrived, everyone was so happy to see me! Lauren is no longer the student on my case as she has a different area to study now but a real nice guy named Chris has taken over. He really likes me and is very impressed with my attitude! Everyone else who has taken care of me came to see me when they found out I was back again. It was so good to see everyone. I was patted, cooed at and loved on! I’m so spoiled but loving it!

Getting onto the surgery procedure, Dr. Shores took a flap from my cheek and covered the hole with it then stitched it in place. Upon doing this, he found yet another hole and took another flap to cover that one up. The second hole was not as bad though because it did not go all the way through my nasal cavity as the other one did. Things went very well and I was able to come home on May 23rd. I was taken to Dr. Rick during my healing process and we discovered that the sutures had come loose once again to the major hole but the other one closed up nicely. Mom was checking my suture area everyday as instructed and was told that if the flap came loose it would hang down and she would be able to see it but I swallowed it so she never did see it hang down.

Mom took me back to Mississippi State on June 28th to have yet another surgery to mend this hole. Man, this thing is really being a pain in my neck! Anyway, I went into surgery once again on June 29th for about two hours. They took another flap and placed it over the hole and sutured it in place. Dr. Shores told Mom that he felt pretty confident with this surgery as the flap did not have as much tension as the other from the previous surgery and he feels this should do the job. Mom came back to Mississippi State on July 1st to take me home. I’m doing really well and I’m even allowed to eat hard food again. That mushy stuff was pretty tasty but I really like eating like a normal dog again. Oh, by the way, I don’t even have to be confined from the other dogs anymore. I’m back in the laundry room with a baby gate up to keep me safe and I get to see Mom even more now.

I know a lot of you have been asking about me and have been worried about me since there had been no updates and I appreciate everyone of you. Next time Mom does not get an update up sooner than she did I promise I will bite her in the butt (just kidding). You do have to understand that bad month she had and even with all the bad things Mom had to deal with that month, she still took care of me and everyone else that looks like me and Dad too. Just a little note, after Mom was discharged from the hospital the doctor’s orders was to take it easy. You know the first thing she did when she got back from the hospital? She fed all thirty-five of us!!! To me that’s not taking it easy!!!!!!!!!!

I know I have expressed my gratitude to everyone that has been so generous in helping me to get better but I just want to thank you all again because if it weren’t for you guys my surgeries would not have been possible!

Collie hugs and kisses to everyone!

Love Will
